Dr. Kate Harrington, MD
Board-certified pediatrician with nearly 20 years of clinical experience and mother of two!
When I was in sixth grade I was asked what I wanted to be when I grew up. I instinctively said I wanted to be a pediatrician. Admittedly my plans had changed several times in the intervening years (every where from Broadway singer to daycare provider to actuarial scientist!), but in 2004 I found myself full-circle and completed my medical degree from the University of Minnesota. Immediately afterwards I headed to pediatrics residency at the same institution, excited about the unique opportunity a pediatrician has to treat children and help guide parents at the same time.
In the summer of 2007, I started working at a small, private pediatric practice in the western suburbs of Minneapolis. I was lucky enough to be there for almost 17 years and build a beautiful practice. I met so many wonderful families and learned something new every day!
I also built my own family while was there, and had two daughters. Having my own children allowed me to build practical advice for my patients, and made me a better pediatrician. I strived to find a healthy work-life balance. However, after surviving breast cancer, I yearned for more time with my family. Ultimately, I left clinical practice mid-2024, so I could have more flexibility to spend more time with family and focus on my health.
However, I still feel strongly about children's health and helping caregivers find their inner amazing parenting skills. So, I hope I can partner with you to handle all the ups and downs of being a parent. Let's enjoy the ride!
